Now that you’ve seen what your scuba diving instructor internship, equipment and accommodations look like, it’s time to see where you’ll train and work. Welcome to Aquanauts Dive Centre, Pattaya's only British-owned and -operated PADI 5-Star National Geographic Career Development Center and headquarters for the Aquanauts Instructor Training program.
In business for more than 12 years, Aquanauts has three locations in Pattaya and operates two full-time dive boats. Its multilingual staff boasts more than 60 years of experience training scuba diving students and instructors.
Your Aquanauts Instructor Training at Aquanauts Dive Centre begins in the Multimedia Learning Centre, a suite of classrooms outfitted with personal computers, high-speed wireless Internet access, DVD and videotape players and large screen monitors.
You’ll have access to all the latest PADI manuals, DVDs, CD-ROMs and online updates in a pleasant, comfortable environment with large windows, air conditioning and comfortable seating.
Of course great facilities are worthless without great instructors. Aquanauts’ full- and part-time PADI instructors and divemasters boast more than a half-century of experience teaching scuba diving in English, German, Finnish, Swedish, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Thai.
You’ll not only work with those instructors in the Multimedia Learning Centre, but in Aquanauts’ 40m swimming pool, located just a stone’s throw from the beachfront. Maintained daily, the swimming pool is used for everything from your first Open Water Diver class to your Instructor Development Course and even technical diving training.
After the instructor, the next most important thing you’ll need is your dive equipment. Aquanauts rents, sells and services all major scuba diving gear brands, including Scubapro, Mares, Aqua-Lung, Seaquest, Suunto, Cressi Sub, Saekodive, OMS and other brands.
Aquanauts’ equipment expertise goes beyond the retail counter, however. Aquanauts is the only dive centre in Pattaya to offer both the PADI Equipment Specialist and ANDI Service Technician courses. We also service Mares and Scubapro dive gear on-site, so if anything ever goes wrong with the gear you get in your internship, you won’t have to send it out for a lengthy repair.
Step into the back room at Aquanauts’ main office in North Pattaya and you’ll find even more gear. We keep in stock more than 30 sets of mostly new and very well maintained rental equipment from the same brand names sold in the two retail shops.
Finally, Aquanauts’ has more than 120 air, nitrox and trimix tanks, all of which are filled in-house at our modern air and mixed-gas filling station.
While Aquanauts North and South Pattaya offices focus on recreational diving, its Central Pattaya center is focused solely on technical diving. Aquanauts Technical Diving is the only center in Thailand to offer training and diving on six of the industry’s leading rebreather units: Evolution, Inspiration, Drager Ray, Dolphin/Atlantis, Azimuth and Kiss.
Aquanauts Tech’s fully-stocked center stocks and services twin-tank units, nitrox, trimix (helium), and other top-end gear such as OMS BCDs and regulators with integrated pressure and depth gauges.
Land-side facilities are important, but where it all comes together is on the dive boat. Aquanauts’ operates two vessels, one in Pattaya and another in nearby Samae San, site of the Hardeep wreck.
Aquanauts owns and operates its own vessel in Pattaya. The 26m, double-deck vessel is the region’s fastest, quietest, most-modern and luxurious dive boat.
The boat features padded seating and sofas, an enclosed galley, dual-ladder dive platform and proper toilets and sinks. Freshwater is piped all over the vessel, from the showers on the bow to the dive area in the stern so you can wash your gear onboard. All new electrical wiring has been installed. Heads have lights and night dives no longer mean a dark ride home.
